About Us

Hi, my name is Ellen Park, and welcome to my kitchen! My blog, Ellen’s Kimchi, chronicles my kitchen adventures – from cooking traditional Korean recipes to experimenting with ethnic fusions. As you might have guessed from the name, a lot of my cooking hinges around incorporating the delicious flavors of my Korean ancestry. My parents immigrated to the U.S. from South Korea as university students and eventually became full U.S. citizens. Proud to call themselves Americans, they raised my brothers and I to love our birth country, but made a point to teach us about our Korean heritage as well. Food was always important growing up, as dinner was a time for our family to connect every day. My mother spent hours cooking tantalizing Korean dishes that were often flavored with one of her kimchi concoctions. Eventually, she taught me the age-old art of crafting kimchi, including my favorite varieties – baechu kimchi, chonggak-kimchi, and oisobagi. Today, while I love cooking all types of cuisine, and I often experiment with infusing recipes with kimchi and other Korean flavors. Please enjoy reading my blog and have fun trying some of my traditional Korean recipes and homecooked recipes yourself!
